Stories: A Lifewriting Retreat for Women

Capturing Memories will hold a weekend writing retreat for women March 14–16, 2003. We will meet at the Trillium Retreat Center on quiet, rural Vashon Island and have the opportunity to relax and write our stories without interruption.

The Trillium Retreat Center
…is an enchanted getaway on fifteen acres of forest and meadows. Sleeping accommodations are in three heated cabins, with each providing bunks for eight people. West Seattle Memories Our workshops will take place in a spacious yurt with abundant natural light and radiant heating. There will be designated quiet spaces for you to write or read. The bathhouse includes an ozonated hot tub, a Russian steam bath, a cold plunge, and a carpeted lounging area.

Delicious vegetarian meals, including full breakfasts, will be served Friday dinner through Sunday lunch. Coffee and tea will be available all weekend.


Registration

$264 per person.

Come with a friend: Two or more registrations sent together, $250 per person.

Retreat fees include sleeping accommodations, all meals, workshops (attend as many as you wish), a lifewriting notebook, and full use of the Trillium facilities.

Register by December 31 and receive a 10% discount.

This lifewriting retreat is open to women ages 18 and over. Please, no children or pets. No alcohol or drugs (including tobacco!) are allowed on the retreat grounds.

Retreat Facilitator

Cathy Fulton has been facilitating life­writing groups and workshops since 1997. She always shares a wealth of information, ideas, and resources. Cathy Fulton Cathy also provides consulting and publishing services for organizations who wish to share their stories through exhibits and books. Her consulting firm, Capturing Memories, specializes in high-quality, short-run publications.

Capturing Memories has assisted the Southwest Seattle Historical Society and the Issaquah Historical Society in compiling and publishing photo journals of their communities. These books capture some of the memoirs, photographs, and mementos of local residents of the 1920s through the 1960s. Cathy is the author of Memory Book Projects: Collecting Stories and Memorabilia (a Memory Book Project director's guide) as well as several lifewriting how-to booklets.
